The app is new-it was founded in 2006-and listeners tend to skew young, with a quarter of users in the U.S.

The Swedish company is now worth an incredible $28 billion and is one of the most-used apps in the world. When shares in Spotify began trading in New York earlier this year, it was just another confirmation that the streaming service has made an indelible mark on the music industry.
